Congratulations! Your interest in starting a Funeral business is the first step on achieving your personal goals and dreams! Why? You will know as we move on.
Short History
I am now 37 years old. The funeral we own started way back 1930 when my great grandfather decided to start a funeral. He then passed the business to his son (my grandfather) in 1950. My grandfather then passed it to his daughter (my mom). Then the business was passed unto me.
Stability
Our business has remained stable despite of two World Wars and countless recessions. It has been up and running since 1930 so this year, 2015, so that makes our business now 85 years old!
Profitability
This business, when done right, as my grandfather told me, "will put food on the table every day". And he was right. Since I started to manage the business, I never ran out of money. Clients keep coming in and I get to do the most things I couldn't when I was working for someone else.
Competition
The less competition, the better. 'nuff said.
A typical day at a funeral home
As the owner, I get to wake up anytime I want. I usually wake up around 8 or 9 am. I then go exercise in my home gym. Then I hit the showers right away. Just to get ready in case a client shows up.
After putting on some casual attire, I eat breakfast. I try to eat light since this job doesn't require hard work. Most Funeral Directors are overweight because: they get to eat what they want(since they can afford) with less work. So be careful to watch your weight.
Around 10am I check for interments/requirements for each client. Have to make sure they all have the corresponding permits so there wouldn't be a problem on the day of interment.
Around 11 I'm done with work. I will either have lunch early or do something.
After having lunch, I rest and usually sleep and wake up around 2pm.
After waking up, I'm free whatever I want to do. Sometimes I go swimming, watch a movie, go to a mall, surf the internet, whatever comes to mind.
Time for yourself
Once your funeral business is up and running, you'll have all the time you want for yourself and your family. You can take a vacation anytime you want. Having enough time for yourself and your loved ones plus the financial rewards of this business will lead only to one thing: happiness.
